What We Do

VE is a small but growing organization of energetic volunteers dedicated to social service to build a brighter future. To maintain an open mind and an environment conducive to fresh energy and ideas, we seek motivated volunteers with the initiative to present their ideas and act upon them. Although we can employ the help of many workers, we specifically look for those who can work within the network to inspire and guide it in new directions. Initiating a new idea can be intimidating, but we seek people with the courage to tackle an intense experience and emerge having taken us one step further in our mission.

Institutions:
Each VE volunteer is placed in an institution where they work an average of 30 hours per week. These hours are spent doing anything from cooking to playing, doing homework to teaching English. The day-to-day interactions with the children are truly at the core of what we do. They are a smiling face, a listening ear and an extra set of hands to the institutions we serve.

Committees:
In addition their work in an institution, each VE volunteer has the opportunity to make a positive impact on VE Global through their committee placement. VE volunteers assist in the implementation of educational programs, help plan fundraising events, and generally participate in the development of an international non-profit organization. Volunteers are placed on either the Operations Committee, which oversees VE Global's volunteer curriculum and educational programs, or  the Resource Development Committee, which leads communications and fundraising.

The committee system represents an opportunity rarely afforded to volunteers; all are given a chance not only to grow and learn professionally, but have a long-term sustainable impact on  VE Global above and beyond their work with the children.

Inter-Institutional Cooperation:
VE Global works directly with a network of nine institutions, lending formative and institutional assistance. VE manages a cooperative system to provide optimal distribution of resources, sharing donations, ideas, projects and volunteers. In this way, each institution has constant support and can work more efficiently and effectively with the children.
