Our Program

VE is a small but growing organization of energetic volunteers dedicated to social service to build a brighter future. To maintain an open mind and an environment conducive to fresh energy and ideas, we seek motivated volunteers with the initiative to present their ideas and act upon them. Although we can employ the help of many workers, we specifically look for those who can work within the network to inspire and guide it in new directions. Initiating a new idea can be intimidating, but we seek people with the courage to tackle an intense experience and emerge having taken us one step further in our mission.

Institutions:
Each VE volunteer is placed in an institution where they work for 5 (part-time) to 30 (intensive) hours per week. These hours are spent doing anything from cooking to playing, doing homework to teaching English. The day-to-day interactions with the children are truly at the core of what we do. They are a smiling face, a listening ear and an extra set of hands to the institutions we serve.

Committees:
In addition to institution placements, each volunteer is assigned to a VE committee (Education, Arts & Recreation, Volunteer Relations, and Resource Development). These commitees facilitate the implementation of programs and create a system of continuity as volunteer stays vary greatly. Committees also give volunteers the opportunity to share ideas and celebrate successes, ensuring that every volunteer has a support network in place to carry out their work.

Inter-Institutional Cooperation:
VEGlobal works directly with a network of 8 institutions, lending formative and institutional assistance as well as organizing a cooperative system and optimal distribution of resources. In this way we can assure that each institution has constant support, sharing resources such as donations, ideas, projects, personal training and volunteers in order that they can work more efficiently and effectively with the children.
