First Impressions

Our new volunteers have been in Santiago just over a week, here are some of the things they said about settling in and learning more about both VE and Chile.

Benedicte:

"My first impression of Chile and VE: sunny, warm and friendly."

Tom:

"I love it! The food, new people, VE staff and Santiago are awesome! The adjustment from home has been very easy!"

Hanna:

"When I first arrived in Santiago I was surprised how huge and well-developed it is! The people here are very friendly and helpful. I love the way VE works and how we learn super-important things in the Orientation week. Looking forward to finally starting my work with the kids!"

Isabelle

"When I first arrived in Santiago I felt overwhelmed by the size and hustle of the city. With time and help getting to know it through orientation, the city is already starting to feel manageable and like somewhere I can make my home for the next six months. I’m feeling less overwhelmed and more excited now."

Eric:

“Amazing people who are willing to take the time to work with my poor Spanish.”

Louise:

“From the first moment on I loved Santiago and Chile and I felt welcome. I was so excited to finally be here.”
